Our History
RescueLogic™ software was first developed in 1988, when founder Dan Horon was
a fire protection engineer. In a stroke of innovation — and inspiration — he
decided to use AutoCAD to show graphics, maps, and floor plans of fire alarm
systems on DOS-based computers. For the next two decades, the product would be
marketed as "RescueLogic™ ."
In 1993, Horon bought the rights to the software and the “RescueLogic™ ”
trademark from his employer, founded Horon Research, Inc., and began to develop
and sell his software full time. He also built and tested systems and provided
technical service and support to customers.
By 1998, DOS-based software was on its way out, and Windows software was in
demand by computer users and facilities. RescueLogic™ customers around the world
requested a Windows version of the software. Horon was happy to comply.
The transition solved a number of problems that had plagued the fire alarm
and security industry. Until that point, it was difficult, if not impossible, to
update and monitor fire-alarm systems as buildings were remodeled. Fire alarm
technicians and building managers were frustrated by systems that combined
devices from multiple manufacturers. When alarms went off — whether during
tests, false alarms, or actual emergencies — security teams were forced to
analyze events and create service reports manually. The Windows version of
RescueLogic™ automated re-design, remodeling, and event analysis.
There were other rewards, too, for Horon's innovations: In 2001, the U.S.
Patent Office awarded Horon a comprehensive patent on his techniques and
technologies. He received another patent in 2002.
Because technology never stands still, Horon continued to refine his product
line. In 2008, he introduced a completely new version of the software — RescueLogic™ .
The new software, built on a Java framework, has been re-developed to
integrate fully with fire alarm, security, and facility management systems with
remote access. |
